A charitable circle of friends grows wider

The Inner Circle Health Group Chapter, formerly called the Inner Circle, has created a new arm of its membership: the Women’s Health Group. Formed in February, the group addresses health issues affecting women and seeks to recruit more women into its ranks of supporters.

“We are all concerned about our children, our health, diet and cancer risks, so why not address those matters while supporting City of Hope at the same time?” said Renee Paul, vice president of the Inner Circle Health Group Chapter. “By bringing together health professionals with expertise in such areas, we hope to educate our members on better and more healthful ways of living.”

For its first event, the group sponsored a February 2008 luncheon at the Regency Club in Los Angeles, where nearly 60 supporters gathered to hear Robert Kotler, M.D., discuss cosmetic surgery.

Other events include a tour of City of Hope’s medical center and a visit to the Sheri & Les Biller Patient and Family Resource Center to learn about breast cancer issues. Matt Loscalzo, M.S.W., administrative director of the Biller Patient and Family Resource Center, will discuss the center’s broad range of services, including supportive care and pain management. Future programs will address topics including Chinese medicine, dieting, skin care and menopause.

Leaders of the Women’s Health Group also plan to broaden the group’s reach by inviting spouses of current City of Hope industry group supporters to join. “Expanding on the work of the former Inner Circle, this new group can forge new ties that will bring even more valued support to City of Hope,” said Bonnie Fein, a past Inner Circle president.

Membership dues for the Women’s Health Group are $1,500 per couple and $1,000 per person for those 50 years of age and under, and $3,000 per couple and $2,000 per person for those over 50. Members also are welcome to attend regular luncheons and speaker events of the Inner Circle Health Group Chapter.
