Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — More than 400 supporters from all 13 Florida chapters gathered at the Diamantes Banquet Center for the long-running Children of Hope event, where $10,000 was raised for City of Hope.

Miami, Fla. — Hundreds of supporters attended the Phyllis Dropkin Chapter’s annual card party and luncheon in April 2008 at the Westview Country Club. More than $15,000 was raised through the event, where guest speaker and local resident Neil A. Gordon, M.D., spoke about his devotion to City of Hope.

Bal Harbour, Fla. — Northern Trust Bank sponsored a cocktail reception in March 2008 at the home of dedicated supporter Helene Westreich in honor of City of Hope Chief Medical Officer Alexandra Levine, M.D., who spoke about the institution’s latest research and treatment efforts.
SOUTHWEST:
Palm Springs, Calif. — The Desert Women’s Council hosted its 10th annual Hike for Hope in March 2008, raising more than $200,000. In addition to hiking through the Indian Canyons, the hundreds of supporters on hand commemorated the longtime support of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians by honoring the group’s chair, Richard Milanovich. “We are blessed to have so many supporters who have made our 10th year our best ever,” said Eileen Stern, event co-founder.

Palm Desert, Calif. — The Palm Springs Chapter celebrated its 50th anniversary on May 17, 2008 when scores of guests toasted the group’s many successful efforts. With membership now exceeding 120, the chapter, which was founded by Faye Konikow, has generated more than $13 million since its inception.
Arcadia, Calif. — More than 320 horse-racing fans, including “Access Hollywood” host Nancy O’Dell and “Men in Trees” actor Scott Elrod, gathered at Santa Anita Park in March 2008 for the second annual Racing for Hope benefit. Proceeds from the sold-out event, founded by Marc and Renee Paul, helped raise $150,000 to benefit City of Hope’s pediatric cancer program. President and co-founder of SCI Real Estate Investments, Marc Paul is affiliated with both the Inner Circle Health Group Chapter and the Los Angeles Real Estate & Construction Industries Council. Since its inception, Racing for Hope has raised more than $300,000.
