Sweet soulful sojourn

Five-time Grammy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated singer- songwriter, actress and record producer Janet Jackson joined music industry leaders on a tour of City of Hope’s Duarte, Calif., campus in May 2008. She sang “Happy Birthday” to one of the hospital’s pediatric patients and took time for photos with patients including Kristen Tuason, left, and Maria Montejano. The tour kicked off a fundraising effort that included benefit concerts and other special events and culminated in a gala dinner to honor the philanthropic work and professional achievements of Doug Morris, chairman and chief executive officer of Universal Music Group. Morris received City of Hope’s Spirit of Life® Award at a gala Oct. 15 in Santa Monica, Calif.
